HOW IT WORKS

Anyone interested in joining the ENC team must be aware of the following policies.

The venue has a set per/head fee (for food and lodging) such that it’s necessary for Camp Counselors to cover their own food/lodging costs. This covers the cost of your lodging and food while at ENC, as well as a Camp Counselor t-shirt and badge. We are still working out details with the new venue, so the cost is currently TBD.

STANDARD CAMP COUNSELOR– Unless otherwise specified, Camp Counselors will be assigned up to a maximum of three activity periods per day for June 29th, 30th, and July 1st; as well as helping set up and tear down. (Last year, it worked out to be a work/trade equal to $20+/hr.)

NON-STANDARD CAMP COUNSELOR-These positions include, but are not limited to Camp Counselors who: work throughout the year, bring equipment/execute their own activity, will be working or on call the entire event as organizational staff, medical staff, and/or have some other situation that needs to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. We’re not assholes, so we’ll work out something fair.

FIRST YEAR CAMP COUNSELOR– As per usual, first year Camp Counselors will be asked to purchase a Camper Registration Badge. After successful completion of your Camp Counselor commitments, you will be reimbursed the difference between your food/lodging costs and your paid registration fee after the conclusion of camp. This system discourages people from signing up to be a Camp Counselor, collecting their badge, then neglecting to fulfill their commitments.

RETURNING CAMP COUNSELOR– Returning Camp Counselors will have access to the Camp Counselors Registration Badge at cost (TBD).

THINGS TO KNOW
Unless otherwise specified, you are expected to arrive at the venue by 11am, Friday, June 28th, 2019 and to stay until teardown/cleanup is complete on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2019. Unfortunately, we do not have access to the venue before 11am on arrival day, so it’s all-hands-on-deck to complete setup, and we have a lot more to set up at the new location.

All Camp Counselors must wear their Epic Nerd Camp badge while in the camp or working/participating in activities. This will set a good example for campers, who are also required to wear their badge at all times.

All Camp Counselors should wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Please refrain from wearing torn or dirty clothing. You’ll be provided with one ENC Camp Counselor t-shirt, which should be worn while on duty. Additional Camp Counselor t-shirts will be available at cost (TBA). First year Camp Counselors will receive “red shirts” which can only be worn during your first year, so you’ll probably only want one. Comfortable walking shoes are best, as most Camp Counselors will be standing or walking a great deal during the day.

Please do not use your cell phone excessively while on duty.

We ask all Camp Counselors to act in the best interest of Epic Nerd Camp by respecting campers, fellow Camp Counselors and staff, as well as promoting a safe and healthy environment.

You are welcome to help outside of assigned hours, but your food/lodging costs will remain the same.

Camp Counselors must refrain from any deliberate acts that may create a dangerous or unhealthy situation during Epic Nerd Camp. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of illegal drugs, excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages; and assaulting, threatening or disregarding the safety (or perceived safety) of an individual.

We have a zero tolerance policy against harassment of any kind. Violation of this policy will result in badge revocation and removal from our programs without reimbursement.

We have a separate application for Arts & Crafts. For everything else, apply to be a Camp Counselor.
