Epic Nerd Camp’s debut of Space Quest was a roaring success! This homebrewed LARP combines a live space adventure (using Artemis, a spaceship bridge simulator) and away missions that feature laser tag and/or diplomatic (non-combat) missions.
Our plans for 2021 are EVEN bigger, as we add playable races, and add in many pvp elements to the game mechanics.
All cadets will first have to be registered through ENC to be eligible to enroll in Officer Training School (Space Quest). Over 100 cadets will be enrolling at our off-Earth campus of Spacefleet Academy, for training in various fields. However, Officer Training school has a limited number of spots available, which enabling them to go on missions. When you are not on a mission, you’ll receive training in swords, archery, crafting, strategy, and a host of other skills; as well as opportunities for sparring; depending on the courseload you choose. As with many off-world sites, base camp is set up with bunks that will house you with several cadets, and a mess hall that serves three meals a day.
Each mission has its own objective, and build onto the campaign as a whole. Most of the missions are a mix of a space mission, role playing/interacting with various aliens, and non-contact combat via laser tag guns. The ENC Intrepid mission does not leave the ship, and is a good option for people who may have mobility issues. ENC Windrunner will be carrying a diplomatic crew, which will not be experiencing combat, but will still have to traverse some uneven terrain.
All officers in training must report to SPACEFLEET ACADEMY for:
- MISSION BRIEFING
- FLIGHT TRAINING
- WEAPONS TRAINING (if applicable)
You and your fellow cadets will be choosing your position on the ship and training on how to perform your position. Then, our combat unit will be trained in how to use our weapons.
Time is of the essence, so make sure to arrive in time for your ship to launch at the scheduled launch time. If you survive your mission, you will report back to Spacefleet Command for debriefing.
Every evening, directly after dinner, there will be a captains’ meeting to discuss the progress of the campaign, new intel, and any major events that may have transpired. All crew members may attend these meetings.
Here is the list of missions from 2019. Future missions will be posted soon!
